Ugh, like I mentioned earlier in this thread, I hate how someone follows different teams, depending on different things. I have a few philosophies on why this is your case:
- You are still young. Meaning, at my age, it is a really big thing for sports fans to go to a bar and have a drink when their home team is on. I would get lynched by not only my friends, but the others in the bar if I was rooting for a team because "I liked the player(s) on that particular team".
- Houston sucks as a sports city, since you did say the Rockets are your home team. I only say this because I live in Philadelphia, and die-hard sports fans are all over the place, which I am happy to say I am a part of. If you are not attached to your home team already, your city simply must suck for sports..

- Maybe you moved around too much throughout your life, which caused you to like teams with certain players. For instance, one of my best friends grew up in Chicago, so he was always a die hard Bulls, etc. fan, but after moving to the Philly area, within a few years he was more of a Philly die-hard than he ever was in Chicago, although he still rooted for the Bulls while Jordan was there, then the Wizards when he was there. That case is acceptable, but he never let it get in front of Philly sports.
That is all I can think of as of now.
