I'm scared

My mother recently had a mammogram done, and they found an abnormailty in her breast. That was the first time she's had one done. She had some extra tests run on her today, and the radiologist said he'd contact my mother's doctor in 3-4 days. I'm scared about it turning out to be something bad. Gahh...I can't stand this wait. I hope she's OK.

My mom had this scare recently. Dont worry. It is probably just a non-malignant cyst. (sp?)

Women can get lumps in their breasts from caffeine. My mother did and had to cut back on it, but they were painful. Cancer is usually not painful.

EXACT same thing just happened to my mom, no worries dude. And if something bad is indeed found, I am sure it is recoverable.

My mother got some kind of vaginal cancer in one of those spots down there, I'm not sure which, she never told me anything about it, I learned about it from reading papers, she felt I was too young to know I guess, and I'll never forgive her for not telling me. I was worried sick for months because didn't know what was wrong.

Thanks for the support guys. This type of stuff has happend before with my mother. Five years ago, she developed a lump in her lymph node. Almost everyone thought it was cancer, even the doctors. Eventually, once the doctors practically said it was cancer, they surgically removed it. It turned out not to be cancer. Although I was way too young back then to grasp the magnitude of the situation, I remember the feeling. I have a similar feeling now. Hopefully there I'm just paranoid, and there is nothing wrong with her.

KA, you don't be too harsh on your mother. I'm sure she felt what she was doing was for your own well-being, considering that you were young. I'm just so stressed right now. I'll be back later.

This was about 6 months ago, I personally don't think I was too young.

I wouldn't consider that young, either. I had a lump in my lymph node for what seemed like 3 months. My girlfriend didn't do anything to help my fear. She was like, "Oh crap. Get that checked out." - Yay. Anyways... it went away and I'm fine. I hope the same for your mother, mj.

Yea man, Im seriosuly sorry to hear that, But in most cases, if it is discovered relativly quickly, then it is easy to prevent cancer, but that is the extreme, it most lilky wont be cancer, so dont worry man. everything should be fine.
