story: dad gets fragged, son goes after dad's fragger. Not that original but hey the story doesn't even matter in the game

the whole point: destroy as many ships as possible so as to become the elite. well at least it has a point

example of play: when you start the game you will truly be amazed at its core simplicity. All you have to do is enter the space station "piece of cake". look at the market screen "hmmm i can get a good price on slaves". put the ship in jump drive and manuever towards the dot at the right side "man this is too easy". you come out of jump drive and notice a ship on radar" oh its just a harmless merchant better let it go on its way". the ship runs by you and with a turn gets on your tail and starts shooting "lol i have plenty of energy and missiles, piece of cake". you quickly manuver onto the tail of the slow merchant and start shooting suddenly as you're concentrating on this ship several come out of nowhere and lock on you firing every missile they have and the only way to avoid a missile is to shoot it and no one's that fast. somehow you escape the ambush and run like hell towards the space station through a war between the police and the pirates (you should have known better than going to an anarchy system), you take a good look at the space station and realize "holy shit do i have to go trough that little hole". put it in auto dock and let the computer do the work, look at the equipment for sale and drool at the prospect of buying a fuel scoop and live the life of a one man pirate, instead of your current options of merchant, bounty hunter or smuggler "this run will bring me one step closer to my dream, merchant ships beware", or a mining laser, pirate's life is cool but miner's life is quite. Go to the merchant screen "wait a minute i had 100 credits, omfg does autodock cost that much i can only buy one slave now oh well". buy slave, buy fuel and depart for a new system. bring up market screen "yes i can get 20 credits profit awsome". several police come up on screen and start shooting their guns like crazy at you "holy shit im almost dead, guess i shouldn't have tried to smuggle slaves into a police state" run like hell towards the space station "i have to get through, can't buy auto dock" the proces is as frustrating as surgery but finally you face the spinning black rectangle "k now all i have to do is go strait, easy does it, k now im alligned full throttle" BOOM!.

the first and still the best: space privateering game ever, one that requires piloting skill and business savvy, none of which are stat based, you get them through experience in this game. Which system to go to, which races are peacefull and which are hostile ecc. Plus the cool additions to your ship and an item that gives you a whole new random universe. Not to mention the cool missions when you get a reputation. i still can't believe this game was originally released in 1987

music: nada

graphics: used to be cga but this is the vga remake their really cool for their age even the polygon ships

I played it a ton back in its day. I'd just love a remake with today's graphics.
