What do you expect from...

...our next Supreme Moderator.

Chruser has defined this new position as...
Chruser said:
(and consequently, additional, active protection from spam bots)
Basically letting you know, your going to be on spam control. That's not to say that no one should strive for this position because, lets face it, it's a rank higher then the rest of us.

A moderator should NOT be promising how he is going to change this website around. He who promises this is lying through his tooth. If he/she felt that they can change this website around, then it would have been happening long before the mention of a moderator position. Any member new or old can change this website through actions or words. What we need as a new moderator is someone who is going to be an active voice in this community. An unbiased voice that follows the RULES of Zelaron. He should be required to treat each party equally.

These views are through my eyes and in now way directly effect anything. Use this thread for public view of how you see things. Do NOT respond to the post above you with, "OMG r U kDING ME!? your stoopd". Simply state what you expect from the next moderator. One post per account in this thread.

My view of a moderator:

1.) A Moderator should clean up spam, from members or bots.
2.) A Moderator should be able to diplomatically put an end to beefs between members, should their problems start infecting the rest of the forums.
3.) A Moderator needs to set an example with good behavior (behaviour, for you Lenny) so any potential members knows that the forum has competent leadership, and is not run by 2nd graders.
4.) A Moderator needs to have an interest in whatever he is moderating. Be it sub-forums, or the whole place, he/she should have a basic understanding of what they are overseeing.
5.) A Moderator has to remain biased towards the well-being of Zelaron.
6.) A Moderator is viewed as a link between the "commoners" of Zelaron, and the upper echelons of superiority(Chruser and WetWired). They should be easily approachable regarding changes or ideas pertaining to bettering Zelaron.

I am sure there is more, but this is off the top of my head. I will edit the others in, seeing as we only get 1 post.

In my eyes, a moderator is here to simply enforce the rules of the board. As was said in the nomination thread, we're basically internet police - which means we should have no bias when dealing with people who break rules, or have a dispute. We also have the powers to move threads, close threads and edit posts. And that's what I expect from our new moderator, whoever it may.

Suggestions and ideas are fine, and can come from any member, whether they be staff or normal, but I see it as the job of an Admin to take the suggestions and ideas and implement them. Mods can, however, communicate with the admins and put across the ideas of members (remember, we, and the new mod, are always here if you want to PM us with an idea to put to the admins. There's also the Talk to the Staff forum).

The next supreme moderator should also have a sense of humour.
