Forum Reorganization in Progress
Reply

As you may have noticed, the forums have been compressed into fewer categories to make Zelaron less cluttered. The process is not entirely complete yet, so this is an ideal time for you to post your thoughts, ideas, praise and concerns regarding the changes which have followed the 3.7.1 update.

(A big thanks to Lenny and Yawgmoth for helping me bring the massive reorganization of Zelaron close to completion, and of course, to WetWired for spending gargantuan amounts of time on the Zelaron 3.7.1 update, which made these changes possible in the first place.)

I think "Light Discussion" is a dumb name. Why not stick with Chat Forum and General Conversation? "Serious Discussion" is a pretty stupid name for a forum as well.

Suggest alternatives. "The Local Pub" and "Debate Council"?

The console sub-forums are empty now, by the way. And I've just moved a couple of hundred Sports threads from the Entertainment sub and into the Sports sub.

Good work Lenny. The console forums are now gone, according to plan.

"Frivolous Discussion"? "Trivial Discussion"? "Unserious Discussion"?

Two things - is the RPG Maker forum staying as a separate forum, then, or is it going to be a visible sub forum of "Game Design"? And we still need prefixes for the Opinion and Debate forum threads before we move them.

Chruser suggested [MJ Class].
My suggestions were [Opinion] for opinion pieces, [Debate] for threads set up for Debate, and [Opp & Deb] for threads that satisfy both.

Anyone else got suggestions? If you want to see prefixes in action, look in the Digital Gaming forum.

I don't particularly care for "Digital Gaming" either, but I can't think of anything else to use. I'd love it if someone came up with something less dumb.

Less dumb? I think Digital Gaming is an ideal name for that forum, it is dedicated to games that are played through a digital medium. Simple and clear.

Video Games or Video Gaming is better than digital gaming.

Video Games could be confused with a forum dedicated solely to Console Games.

From Wikipedia, the compendium of all human knowledge:

"The word video in video game traditionally referred to a raster display device. However, with the popular use of the term "video game", it now implies any type of display device. The electronic systems used to play video games are known as platforms; examples of these are personal computers and video game consoles."

Ergo, I will rename it "Video Games" until further notice. Perhaps we're archaic?

When Traditional Gaming dies we can call it General Gaming?
