Privatize Dragoon Elite forum

There only seem to be 2 or 3 people who have publicly said they don't like the Dragoons. The rest of don't seem to mind...or if we do, we keep it to ourselves.

It can sometimes be fun to read through a couple of the threads to see what madness is being inflicted upon you all.

I think you're missing the point too. Half of my friends on Live have come from networking here at Zelaron. If we were to make it a private forum, then no members, new members, etc. would know we exist. The purpose of our Forum isn't to only have the people we want posting there, but to expand it and give other members of Zelaron a chance to join in on our fun. Also, we have for the most part fixed the problem you are thinking about. We usually have about 6-7 threads active in our forums, so it's not that big of a deal anyway. You guys are exaggerating the whole issue. I mean, I hate all posts that aren't Dragoon, Gen Convo, Flame Forum, Forum Discussion, Gen Gaming, and maybe 2 other Forums. Does that mean I want to privatize the rest of the Forum? No? It means I simply don't read the topics in those other Forums. It's no worse than the Chat Forum. You guys are getting too caught up in seeing "Dragoon Elites" too much, and not realizing that it is no different than seeing "Computer Graphics" or any other Forum you don't like reading and just skipping over the message.

I had my permission to view that forum taken away a while ago, and I thank whoever did that for me.

Maybe make it so that there is an option in your CP to turn HOSTED FORUM VIEWING off.

There's a link next to the new posts link that says [Subscribed Forums]. So subscribe to the catagories besides hosted and use that link. Note that you may need to switch styles in order to subscribe to catagories; I know Synthesis supports it.

Do you not know how the view new posts works? You view new posts, post in whatever you feel like posting in, then you leave. Then when you come back, you view new posts, and you can see everything that you've missed while you were gone.

Yeah, well I never really understood the Subscribed Forums option.. It would be much better if you could simply check a box next to each individual Forum, have it save your settings, then when you click New Posts, it will only show new posts from the Forums that have a check in the box.

Now that would be an option that is not only easy to use, but it would appease everyone's posting style.

While I'm not really sure of my stance on the situation, I'll try to provide some clarity.

The Subscribed Forums button will filter out particular forums for members. That doesn't satisfy the suggestion that was provided here. The thought, as I understand, is that people (all people, not just those who don't like the Dragoon threads) will post more threads if there looks to be less activity.

The suggested problem is that, while there is activity in the Dragoon section, most people don't want to post there, because it seems to be a 'private' group of people talking about things that only pertain to themselves. However, since the New Posts button provides ~20 threads, the non-Dragoon isn't going to feel obligated to start a new thread or post in one that isn't currently active.

Telling everyone to filter out the Dragoon forum isn't going to work because a majority of the people that this is targetted at are either too new to know or too inactive to see this suggestion.

To actually implement it, the forum would have to be made private. It could even be just semi-private. There could be a user group, joinable by anyone, that makes it viewable. That would limit visibility to only those who want to see it.

Now that the point is more clear, and I think that it may be a valid one, I will say that I don't think inactivity (even if it's just simulated) promotes activity. I don't believe that, just because there are no new posts, people will be motivated to start some activity.

Well, we have recently turned into that "Semi-Private Forum" you suggested above. We have a Private Forum that we made to keep all Strategies and serious discussion in, but we recently decided that we are going to switch that up in a few days. As of right now, we are only posting in the Private Forum, but next week, we are going to keep serious threads in the Public Forum, and all spammity spam threads that mostly exist right now, in the Private Forum. That way, we can have our fun, but we can also co-exist with the rest of Zelaron and enable members to actively see good threads that have actual Halo gaming strats, suggestions, etc.

I think that should appease the masses.

See what pisses me off about this is, all of those spammity threads can go into our Gen Convo. or Chat. Why is it simply Dragoon conversation if one of them is going to Miami for the weekend or w/e. If I saw a thread title that said Gruesome gets Fucked in the chat forum I would atleast read it, and probably post in it but instead they keep all they're posts pretty strictly in they're section and quite frankly I don't like reading anything in that section because it's mainly the same 4 or 5 fucktards with the exception of JR and sometimes Gruesome.
