I think you should ask Kyler more, but also consider that if you move anywhere it should be somewhere with a good music scene for your type of music. There are places that have music scenes for only one type of music. You don't see many metal bands in Charleston but there are a hell of a lot of blues bands.

Yeah, I know. The thing with metal is that you can pretty much find an audience anywhere. Metal speaks to a lot of people, but (as ashamed as I am to admit this) it speaks most profoundly to rubes. Rednecks and white trash (be they actually white or not) probably make up the biggest percentage of the metal community. And everybody has a redneck uncle or two.

Well if it makes you feel better, the biggest metal fans I know wear shoes that are at least 50% duct tape.

Can't really blame them. I'm still wearing a pair of boots I've owned for about five years. I don't like buying new shit. I buy new clothes when I either destroy something I already own and need to replace it, or I lose something I already own and need to replace it.

...or if I happen to see a particularly awesome videogame shirt that I MUST BUY. Like the following, for example:

Have you considered trying a kind of music other than metal? Or maybe mix styles. Jam bands are cool.

Edit: I have an SNK Forever shirt with the arcade buttons on the front. My favorite shirt.

I'm up for pretty much anything but hardcore, punk or emo. Metal is what's at my core, though, Robo. If I knew that I'd make it as a musician, that I'd become huge and be set for life, and that all I had to do was pick what form of music to become famous for, it would be metal. I like a lot of stuff, but I love heavy metal. It's what I was raised on.

Dude... that fucking blows.

If I were you, i'd make it your goal to not fit a genre, because that'd be kick ass.... but that's just me. If you want to be a metal band and you are set on it, go fucking for it.

Basically how I feel. I've been a metalhead since Metallica's Black Album came out (keep in mind I was 7 when that came out).

I've not seperated from it since.

Forget about it. Shit start a new band and forget about your old "friends". People change... As much as it sucks. I really only have 1 friend... I know he wont change but I see how unfortunate it is when you lose a friend. And I know not everyone can be as luck as I am to have that one friend who is like a brother to me. I have lost a few friends though... Do I regret it? Sometimes sure. But hey... Fuck them. Not to mention Im usually the one who drives them away... Anway. Talk to kyler(?) about a new band. I never heard your band's music but I bet its pretty good if you were planning to make a living off of it. And I know people on here like it too. Anyway all I'm saying is best of luck. Hope everything works out for you.

PS: I own both of you in bowling. 2 fingers bitch!

Asking Kyler to start up a new band would only be a temporary solution. It would be a great outlet, because he's an amazing guitarist, but I know that he's looking for a more steady line of work in music than trying to get signed to a label.

Then there's also the issue with there not being any other competent rock drummers in this shitty town besides Jeff. If Kyler and I joined up again, we'd be a guitar/vocals duo, and that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

I talked to Dan earlier today about this whole situation, and he made me an offer. His new band, BloodHaze, just found themselves a vocalist, but they're not terribly happy with the guy. Apparently, he's competent, but not anything to scream over. They offered me the opportunity to replace him, and all I have to do is say yes. Dan's apparently a lot more serious about getting signed than I thought he was before, because he's been talking to labels for over a year while they tried to find a singer. So, his "set lifestyle" isn't really an incumberance at all. considering he's the one who's being the most active about getting the band signed.

This is an extremely tempting offer. Dan's awesome, the guys in his band are awesome, and they're all grown adults, so I won't have to put up with highschool bullshit and constant bickering. Dan is apparently really wanting me to join too, because he's offering to give me a room in his fucking house, he's offering to move me and all of my shit down to Salt Lake and is offering to just flat-out fire the guy they've got singing for them now if I'll join up.

I'm heading to Dallas on thursday, and I'll be back a week later. One week after that, he's coming up here to hang out for a night and then we'll drive back down to Salt Lake and I'll see what the band has to offer while I'm there. If I like what I hear, I'm thinking this may be what I'll end up doing.

I can't get AIDS I'm not black. But serioulsy, your obviously a much better moderator than you are anything in a band. Life your life to the fullest by editing deleting, and trashing posts.

I doubt it too. I'm resisting the urge to just shoot my load early and say yes right this second, because there are a lot of other factors involved. The biggest variable is whether I like the music or not, because I haven't heard these guys play their stuff since the beginning of the summer, and apparently they've written a lot more shit since then. If it sounds good to me, I'll just say fuck it and move to Salt Lake as soon as I can afford it.
