After a certain amount of time of activity from you being on it surfing or idle time? Have you also looked at the possibility of it being a worm? It would eat up your bandwidth and use your pc to reroute spam, or attack a site. I would run spybot/adware first. Also check the programs that are starting up... Start/Run/msconfig/startup tab.
