If you haven't corrected this yet, check to see what your Window title is on your Diablo window. If you use D2Loader, you'll likely need to reset the title to Diablo II.
You'll need to add -title "Diablo II" in your shortcut's .exe path.
Edit: You'll also likely need to run it windowed. That is accomplished with -w
