In a world first, a research group in Kyoto Japan has succeeded in processing and displaying optically received images directly from the human brain (http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/dy/features/science/20081211TDY01306.htm). The Japanese press release (http://www.asahi.com/kansai/news/OSK200812100101.html) may be of interest to some of you.

The research is due to be published today in the U.S. scientific journal Neuron.

Jamer should be banned from any forum where intelligent discussion takes place.

Why? He posses the same level of intellect as MJ, what's the problem here?

On Topic: That's pretty crazy, if they actually get to the point where they can record dreams, that could open up so many possibilities! Plus I'd love to be able to watch my dreams over.

Atleast he's funny, I haven't seen you post anything substantially funny in.... well, ever... honestly.

On-topic: This is amazing. Another remarkable step towards being one with machine and living forever, I approve. I wish I could find more information about this story, I want to see the images that they came up with, like actual pictures of them so see how they turned out.

I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure in the picture below (In Chruser's 2nd link) it shows at the bottom what the person was looking at, and the output.

The research group later measured the visual cortexes of the two people who were looking at the word "neuron" and five geometric figures such as a square and a cross.

The text of the second link doesn't provide any new information, though the picture is interesting.

Wow, that's incredible. Imagine what kind of art would come out of that.

There goes my job as a graphics artist.

"I'll need those sketches as soon as possible." "Here you go." "Great! You're work is done. Find a new job."

True.

It actually reminds me of a scene in Eldest, where Eragon says a spell to make a picture using his thoughts of Arya.

That is utterly amazing. Singularity with machines, here we come!
