Not necessarily so. Some areas are better than others. I remember having trouble finding a job back in Illinois, but that was because of my previous employer who shall not be named.
I get 9 dollars an hour starting out. I was getting 10 at my last job :/. And my area most likely has a lower cost of living. A supermarket isn't going to make you rich. But if you enjoy it then who cares, I suppose.
I actually do enjoy being a full-time Service Desk Clerk. It's odd...Everyone's like "Woah...do you like...get yelled at all the time?"
Actually, no. I don't get yell at a lot. If you're pleasant to the customer chances are, even if they start in a bad mood, they'll leave in a better mood. Only thing I don't like is their tendancy to put me on a lane still, even though they technically should be sending part-time people before me.
Well, if you're happy with where you work Jess, than kudos but I'm saying there are better jobs out there, you just have to be patient and look hard enough.

I had an asshole come in today and was all "I make $107 an hour! You guys are wasting my time!" All because I wanted to help train the new guy in how to process a check. :<
