It is the same as in favorite. In Britain they spell it favourite. Here in the US both versions are acceptable. My friend thought that you could only spell it favourite.
Yea, the American's are the ones that dropped the "u" in words like colour and favourite. There is a good reason for it though, for printing news and books, it cuts down on the costs a bit, just think, there are a lot of words that have the "u" dropped. If they had to use the "u" it can add aleast a whole new page or more because it pushes everything over each time.
