Meh, Tupac is basically the same as any rapper today, he just went around telling 'the media' he wanted to channnnge the world he wanted to Make it better, while on the other hand talkign about guns, and dissing other rappers, etc, etc. Money changes you.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Yes, he talked about guns, and dissed other rappers, but for fucks sake, I've heard Britney Spears diss Fred Durst, Michael Jackson diss Paul McCartney, and Van Halen diss David Lee Roth, so this concept is not one that applies exclusively to rappers. He dad have enmity with some rappers, but just about all renowned celebrities do.

He talked about guns. He talked about drugs. He talked about violence. I'm not denying those things. But take a look into the history of rap. It started in the 70's, in little clubs in Brookly, the center of drugs, guns, and violence. From it's conception, rap has been about that. Most of these rappers have grown up around drugs, guns, and violence. Now, when you are exposed to this stuff from the second you exit the womb, and that's what you grow up around, naturally you are going to talk about it. All a rapper does is rap about the society he grew up in.

Now Tupac's music was elevated to another level. Tupac's music was truly great. As a lyricist, there is no one better. Yes, he rapped about what every other rapper raps about, but it didn't make his whole album. Aside from rapping about all of that stuff, he rapped about much more. The content of his music even exceeded the standards that the fathers of rap, such as Melle Mel, Eric B., Rakim, Kurtis Blow, and Krs-one, had set. He rapped about politics. He rapped about love. He rapped about friendship. He rapped about his childhood. He rapped about the ghetto children. He rapped about teenagers forced into prostitution as a last resort. His music had a message, which is contrary to most of today's rappers because they will sell out just to make a quick buck.

If you've never heard Changes, listen to it, if you've never heard Brenda's got a Baby, listen to it, if you've never heard Unconditional Love, listen to it, if you've never heard Dear Mama, listen to it, if you've never heard Letter to my Unborn, listen to it. Don't by into what the media says. Listen to his music yourself before you ridicule and belittle it. Listen to those songs I've listed above, and there is no way you would still agree to what you said above, D3V, unless you already have your mind made up that "he's just another nigger making nigger-noise," and that you'll never, even on your deathbed, say that what he said has a chance to be true no matter how much the facts have evinced otherwise.

Saying that Tupac was like any other rapper is like saying Michael Jordan was like any other basketball player, or Napoleon was like any other general in war.
