So she has substance abuse problems. Rehab hasn't helped any. Put her in jail for 6 months and stick her in rehab again after that. Get her counciling or whatever she needs. Putting someone away in prison for drugs just makes them worse. They come out doing way worse things than they were beforehand.

A DUI puts her past the initial premise of "she's only hurting herself", which is why I say anything less than a year for both of those combined would be a joke.

I don't agree with drunk driving, but I also don't agree with harsh drug charges. Like I said, when you get into year(s), you're just making the problem worse.

Do you honestly think, if she went to prison for a year, she'd come back out as the sweet Lindsay we all knew before?

6 months in prison would be more than enough to give her a taste of reality. Just look how Paris reacted when she was told she had to go to jail for 20 something days.

If a drug were involved in a situation where they were posing a great danger to the public via driving under the influence of said drug or in the case of an Assault charge or whatever, I would be a proponent of the drug's presence adding to the punishment, simply because it would ensure people are a bit more responsible about it.

I'm not saying she should get off that easy because she's a celebrity.

I also don't think she should be punished more severely because she's a celebrity.

The fact that she's a celebrity has nothing to do with it.
