Who knew you could HAVE sex like this?

Psyche!

Now that I've got your attention, I need some advice from people who know something about architecture.

I have to build a little wooden tower that supports weight (max about 33 pounds). Basically, the base necks in for 15 cm and then the rest of the tower has to fit through an 8 cm hole.

One weight is put on the top, and then a string goes down through the middle and holds up all the other weights. What is the best design for load-bearing?

One more thing:

So it's not a total waste

I cant really help. Doubt you'll get much.

If that's your tower, i dont think it could hold that much man, try to like make the bottom more sturdy and things like that. Or superglue?

Lot's of triangles. If you have a lot of triangles then you should be fine. And that's all I remember from Tech. Oh wait...and our teacher managed to cut his thumb off.

"This is how you use a pen-knife kids...OH MY GOD!"

He also crushed his fingers with a metal ruler...ah, fun days.

So yeah, lot's of triangles.

I say make it an H... You just get all the weight in the center and have 2 support towers on the sides of it.

An A would be better. With a H the middle beam could buckle and fold in two, dragging the rest of the H with it. With an A however, it the bottom is fixed to something, and is strong enough the middle beam can't buckle and fold in two as the slanting sides won't let it.

Triangles again.
