Noob question?

I have started noticing games being advertised as "free if you wait 16" or "free is you wait". Being highly suspicious, I went into one game with a lvl one sorc and sat there and waited for 10 minutes while the other guy never moved or said anything. I expected some kind of hack that stripped me of all my gear but nothing happened. Anybody know what is going on?

If this has been discussed before, my apologies. I just noticed this.
