A PERFECT Eth Vortex Exile would be 1213 DEF.

225 (max def on a Vortex) * 1.5 (Ethereal Trait) = 337 def

337 * 3.6 (perfect ed% on exile runeword) = 1213

That would be a smiting-ass shield.
