Chinese knife attacks?

Chinese knife/cleaver attacks

Why? -Nobody can make sense of this, they just report on it.

Here is the timeline:

March 23: A man stabs eight students to death and wounds five others at an elementary school in Fujian province. The attacker, a former community doctor, was executed.

April 28: A male teacher barged into a primary school in southern Guangdong province, wounding 16 pupils and a teacher.

April 29: An unemployed man stormed into a kindergarten in Taixing city in Jiangsu province with a knife. At least 28 children were injured, most of them four year olds.

April 30: A farmer entered a village school in Shandong province and attacked preschool students with a hammer, causing head injuries. He then set himself on fire and died.

May 12: Seven children were killed, and at least 20 others wounded after an attack at a kindergarten in Shaanxi province.

May 16: A man attacked six girls with a meat cleaver at a busy Chinese market before committing suicide by jumping out of a building, according to state-run media.

And most recently. Last night several attackers broke into a College dorm in Southern China and attacked 9 students, one who's hand was severed. ( http://www.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/asiapc...ex.html?hpt=T2 )

What is behind these attacks? They have seemingly been targeting random groups from schoolchildren, to college kids, young females in markets, and random people around town. Some have committed suicide afterwards, but not-so in these most recent attacks. Chinese Charles Manson behind this? It's quite sad to have a repeating situation like this happen anywhere in the world, and until they get to the bottom of it, I am sure there will be more of these same type of attacks.

These seem strange to me, especially the second one. How can someone walk into a kindergarten with a knife and injure so many children without killing any? Was it a butter knife or something?

Well it depends on the location of the wound itself. He could've just slashed a bunch of kids, which won't do much harm rather than just some stitches if the puncture isn't deep. However, if there is a puncture, the wound would either have to have the victim perish from bleeding, or if one of the large arteries were struck. Either way, it's still fairly horrific that anyone would attack children, regardless of their motive.

Seems like scare tactics for hidden motives. Much like our "terrorist" attacks.

Probably some new ridiculous cult or something.

(How did I miss this thread?)

At first (looking over D3Vs' timeline), I tried to find a pattern (other than knives). It looked like it was always at a school of some sort, until the super market one. I highly doubt a cult is behind this, otherwise they'd have ALL commited suicide...
The ages look like they range from kids to college students, but definately all kids. Also, before the recent one, it seemed like only one person at a time was attacking, right?
It's definately possible that a person was in charge of all of these, as only a little longer than a month after the first attack, three of them happened, one after the other, day after day, the next month.
The next attacks all happened in May, the 12th, 16th, and 18th. That's three more attacks in a row, just more spaced out as before.
At first, I though a pattern in the dates was that they would all happen after the 20th/towards the end of the month, as they did in the first four attacks, but then it quickly changed from the early middle to the later middle of the month...

That causes a few problems. Now, we could just assume that the first attack was sort of a, uh, prototype attack - something to see if they could do it successfully, without the true head of the attack getting caught. Then the actually things happened.

Let me take a guess - and if I'm wrong, let me die of shame - that the next attacks will happen either late this month, or early next month (between the 29th of this and the 10th of next), and will be about three to five day paced away from each other.

We could start guessing when the next attack happens, good idea. I'll put my bet with Wednesday May 26th.

If I'm right, they'll keep going further down in the month (starting up every ten to fifteen days), while also becoming further from each other, until (I'm guessing about July or August) they'll happen on the 1st, 15th and 30th. Of course, that'd only happen if I figured out the pattern that quick, which is pretty hard given what I have.

That's like saying "2, 4" and assuming "6, 8, 10" comes next. Funny thing is, it does, so...
