PvP Guided Arrow need AR?
 

This may seem like an obvious question, but I have a question about Guided Arrow. Because it "always hits", is there a point in pumping your attack rating at all? I know that with Freezing Arrow, AR will matter because the actual arrow itself will do damage as well as the cold, but I don't know how that works with Guided Arrow.

The reason I ask is that I am going to be making a PvP Guided Arrow amazon, and I don't know whether or not I should invest in Penetrate.

Well, I wasn't planning on using any other attacks - just GA. It would be a dueling character, and no other arrow attack is really all that great for PvP (other than Multi-Shot, which WOULD require a big Penetrate investment).

So, for pure GA, is there any point at all to using Penetrate?

Well, the guide is ok, but he really didn't justify his skill choices very well. ONE point in Lightning Strike is going to 1-3 hit kill? I don't think so - especially because most people duel in Nightmare and have at least one lightning absorb item (for FoHers and Trappers).

On top of that, the charms are ridiculously inflated. Obtaining charms like that on NL now would take a wealth that I sure as hell don't posess. The same goes for the equipment. While 40/15s are duped like hell, they're still hard to get. And, I don't play with duped items anyway, so a lot of what he recommended is out of the question.

So, I'm still left asking, should I use Penetrate or not?

Well... I really wouldn't recomand you make a zon then, if you only use her for duel, you sure will get... beaten very often.

And asnwer your question, penetrate = no.

Well maybe I suck at dueling, but the GA Zons that I have seen have really kicked ass. Plus, they're kind of the underdogs. Everyone plays Pallys, Barbs, and Sorcs - I usually try to make at least 'somewhat' unique characters.

My other dueler is a Dragon Talon Assassin (a build which everone also says sucks, but I have had really good luck with her - even beaten a charger pally).

FYI, I mostly duel by Clan Honor rules. No teleporting, duped items, overpowered curses, effects, items, etc. (Maybe you're familiar with them - I'm not sure.)

Well good luck to your build then, I think you really need fast run/walk charms even tho you don't need the one with max damage. Also what armor are you going to use?

Well I don't have all of my gear picked out yet.

I was thinking about Duress, CoH (if I get lucky), Shaft (doubtful)...

A Windforce is obvious, along with some good leech items (Gaze, dual ring, Dracs, etc).

try to get engima, I would suggest b/c of the fast r/w.

Guided Arrow doesnt always hit. You block it, out run it, and defense can cnacle a Guided Arrow from hitting in 1.10

defense doesnt cancel it out the only thing is either a block or avoid/evade can stop GA

And I'm sure that Assassins could Weapon Block them too! ;)

Regardless, a lack of AR will not make a GA miss. So there's no need for it.

did i mention Block stops GA? did i mention redundancy is like spam?

weapon block does stop it and with an assassin u can use the one that makes u run fast and outrun the arrows pretty easily, i know i do. i can circle a zon and then dragon flight in and WW and then its an easy 1hit KO

Except Dragon Talon is SO much cooler than WW.

And yes Dragon, you did say block, but there is a big difference between saying a character can block with a shield and saying that an assassin blocked something - surely you know this.

Are u ppl that oblivious to the words BLOCK, i highlighted it. NOTICE that in "WEAPON BLOCK" CONTAINS the word BLOCK. As in my last posts i said BLOCK, what part do you NOT UNDERSTAND? Just out of curiosity what level of english are you guys in?

I actually graduated from Iowa State with a degree in English. So, if you'd like to argue, feel free to do so. I wasn't saying that you description of blocking was inadequate - it's just that the general term blocking means something more when you apply it to the assassin world. Everyone knows that assassins can block more than just melee with Weapon Block, but I wasn't sure if they could block Guided Arrow or not. I was merely saying that I am pretty much assuming they can.

I'd also like to add that "u" and "ppl" are not words in the English language. In addition, I should always be capitalized, there should be a semicolon before "what part...", and you shouldn't end sentences with prepositions (in).

If you're going to be a grammar whore, please watch your own. Whether or not a mistake is caused by typing or thought, it's an error. Insulting people concerning the English usage of their posts and having errors in your own is quite embarrassing.
