Oh dear god please help!!!
Now, before I state the problem, I will explain why it's a problem. I listen to rap and hip hop a majority(about 98%) of the time. I have taken a liking to Korn, but other than that, most of that rock stuff just annoys me.
Now to the problem. As many of you know, Slipknot just released a new album. My brother and his girlfriend love Slipknot, so I drove them today to Target to get the album because it was on sale for 10 bucks. Now anyone who has gotten a new CD knows the feeling of not being able to listen to it right away. It's almost like quitting crack cold turkey! So anyways, being the nice brother that I am, I decided to let him play the CD, even though I hate them. He chose to start off with Psychosocial. Now comes the problem. I listened to the song, the WHOLE song. And at the end, I hit the button to play it again. I WAS ENJOYING THE SONG!!! So I need help to guide me away from the dark side! Anyone willing to offer help? |
I could probably offer you some other good rock to listen to, but other than that I don't know what to tell you.
|
So, basically your advice is to give into the darkness?
Fine, if I must go, so be it, but I must have a taste of what awaits on the other side! In other words, yeah lemme know what else is good... |
http://slipknot.isgay.com/ that should be able to redirect your feelings.
|
That was by far the most retarded thing I have ever seen! The grammar was horrible, words were misspelled, and the puncuation made me feel like I was reading a pre-school journal.
|
yes, all things to look forward to with slipknot in your cd player.
|
What other bands do you suggest then?
|
anything who's lyrics dont make you want to cut yourself or shoot your neighboor. im going to sleep now >.>
|
Metallica, off of the top of my head. But make sure you get the good stuff. The live versions of their songs are almost always better than the standard versions.
Black Sabbath is another good one. I personally like White Zombie. That's all older stuff, though. I know some good newer stuff too, but there's a lot more of that and I don't have the energy to think it all up right now. |

Desmo-something or other needs to return, he seems to have a good ear for music, judging from his "What song are you listening to?" posts...
|
I would have never guessed you listed to rap 98% of the time. Never.

Pendulum. Nowt like a bit of drum 'n bass rocky stuff. Fantastic music.
I'll also throw out the names of a few British Indie bands (completely different to Slipknot): Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Chiefs, Ting Tings, Dirty Pretty Things, The Libertines (an absolute MUST listen to), Primal Scream, Editors and Maximo Park. The American Indie bands Cage the Elephant and Cold War Kids are also worth a listen. Find some of their songs on YouTube. If you like any of them a lot, send me a PM and I'll see what I can sort you out with, and I'll also recommend some other Indie bands. |
In an effort to plug some local bands, you could give RJA (Red Jumpsuit Apparatus) a listen, they're a bit lighter of a rock group, but still some good music.
I'm sure you've probably heard 'Face Down'. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=WmfasWzdyHs There's plenty more better songs floating around.. The Grim Goodbye. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf883p...eature=related Waiting. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=LXNo5S...eature=related Love Seat http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=9XCpY9...eature=related Another band, Evergreen Terrace (yeah the street the Simpsons live on).. have a few good songs floating around, they were excellent at Warped Tour. "New Friend Request" http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=ALlxuzkNj4I |
I suggest some Rammstein and Cradle of Filth.
D3V: No "Face Down" by RJA? Shame. :< |

Anyways, I like Rammstein a little, and Cradle of Filth is too screamy for me, at least at this point. My Bro likes Cradle, and I think he's in love with Danny... D3V, I have heard of Red Jumpsuit Aparatus, and I don't like them. I'll give Evergreen a shot, though. I like a little Black Sabbath, Metallica (Master of Puppets, 'cause it's from DOOM!!!:)). I'll give all yours a listen when I get back, Lenny. |

I could name a ton of songs by Metallica that are really good. Of all of the bands I've ever listened to, they've got the most good songs. I'll just give you a run down of my favorite songs of theirs: Kill 'Em All (Unlike most Metallica fans, I don't really care for any of the stuff from their first album, Kill 'Em All. At least, none of the songs on that album stand out as "favorites" of mine. I have the album in my playlist, but don't care for it a ton.) Ride the Lightning For Whom the Bell Tolls Fade to Black Trapped Under Ice The Call of Ktulu Master of Puppets Battery Master of Puppets The Thing That Should Not Be Welcome Home (Sanitarium) Disposable Heroes ...And Justice for All Blackened ...And Justice for All Eye of the Beholder One Harvester of Sorrow To Live Is to Die Metallica The entire Album. It's just that good. Enter Sandman (I don't care much for it myself, honestly, because it's overdone, but it's a great song either way, I'm just sick of it myself) Sad But True Holier Than Thou The Unforgiven Wherever I May Roam Don't Tread on Me Through the Never Nothing Else Matters Of Wolf and Man The God That Failed My Friend of Misery The Struggle Within Load Ain't My Bitch Until It Sleeps King Nothing Bleeding Me Mama Said The Outlaw Torn ReLoad Fuel The Memory Remains Devil's Dance The Unforgiven II Better Than You Carpe Diem Baby St. Anger (Unlike most Metallica fans, I actually like a lot of this album. Most people seem to think it's horrible. If you don't directly compare it to their older stuff, it's still better than 95% of what else is out there.) Frantic St. Anger Some Kind of Monster Invisible Kid My World Shoot Me Again Sweet Amber The Unnamed Feeling Purify All Within My Hands You might wanna check out System of a Down, as well. They're a bit spastic sometimes, but if you can tolerate that, they're pretty damn unique, and they have a lot of good messages as well. |
Forgot some, not sure how I managed that:
Garage Inc. Disk One Free Speech for the Dumb Sabbra Cadabra Turn the Page Die, Die My Darling Loverman Astronomy Whiskey in the Jar Tuesday's Gone The More I see Disk Two "Last Caress"/"Green Hell" Breadfan The Prince Stone Cold Crazy So What? Killing Time Stone Dead Forever S&M This is one of their live albums. Basically, anything that's on here that was on any of my previous lists is worth listening to. Like I said before, the live versions of their songs are almost always better than the standard versions. There are also some songs on S&M that aren't on any of their other albums. Here are the songs from S&M that really stand out as "must hear the live version" songs: The Call of Ktulu Master of Puppets For Whom the Bell Tolls Battery <----This one is a GREAT live song. They have another live album called "Live shit: Binge & Purge" but I've never listened to anything on it. Now that I've seen what's on it, though, I'll probably try to get my hands on it. There are a lot of potentially good songs on it. |
