I think she's sincere. Even so... I don't think that shinto (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinto) counts as atheism. And while there's nothing biblically incorrect about God using great calamity to wake people up, I don't think that that's what we should be praying for, nor should we be so excited about the devastation.

I think it is more that people would just rather assume they really mean what they say rather than consider the fact that they are joking. People like being upset.

I mean, if The Amazing Atheist ended every video with a short clip explaining that he's mostly trolling, yeah, that would probably hurt his success. But unless you are seeking that information, it isn't readily available, and most people will just jump to the conclusion that he believes everything he says.

Not yet imma wait until I'm home. No headphones are allowed in my lab for safety reasons so people can hear shit I'm watching or listening to. I generally avoid things like that, especially since at least 1/4 of the people I work with are mormons.
