View Full Version : Why do we search on Google?

For this exact reason!

I was messing around and searched "Sim RPG Maker download" on ask.com to see if Zelaron was on the list. Here's what I found instead. The first thing on the list is bull. The second thing was "Sim Rpg Maker 95 V2 Download." If you click on this, your browser will appear to have shutdown and a box popped up warning you that you may have malware. DO NOT CLICK ANYWARE ON THE BOX IN CASE YOU ARE INEXPERIENCED IN DEALING WITH THIS CRAP! If you do click it, download SUPERAntiSpyware. Anyways, close it down by right clicking at the bottom of your screen and close it. Then reopen your browser and continue on. Point is, ASK.COM has just directed several people using it to a major annoyance known as Antivirus 2008/2009. My brother somehow obtained it a little while back and it took me a bit to get rid of it.

I used dogpile/altavista when I was like 12 & 13, Google gives the best results in my opinion.

Google loads the fastest, for me. Their front page isn't cluttered with bullshit.

Compare:

www.google.com

www.yahoo.com

agreed. Google has so little on it besides the results, that it loads very fast. All others though, have a whole lot of shit besides your results.

AOTS advertised in The Loop a new search engine that is suppose to find results x amount of times faster then google. I can't remeber the name.

When I searched "Zelaron" just now on both google and Cuil, I got twice as many hits on google and there was no noticeable difference in search time. Really, we'd be talking about milliseconds anyway, so who cares?

Cuil also took a tiny bit longer to load than Google.

Agreed. I remember using altavista when I was in elementary school, not a good site for children. There's no filter, and porn would appear at the most innocent search, causing us to hide the site quick before the teacher saw. Pretty funny

Although the idea behind Cuil is good, the developers (who are ex-Google) rushed it. In the Tech world, it's the first week/day that can make or break a product. Cuil flopped on its first day, and wasn't up to scratch for a few weeks.

I get better results on Google than on any other engine. Though I do wish they hadn't moved the other searches bar to the top of the page.

I'll let them off, though: http://www.google.com/intl/xx-pirate/
