Ok now this is a VERY strange problem. When I first installed RPG Maker 2003, I was able to move fine in the test play. Now for Christmas I got a new video card and monitor. Now when I try to do the Test Play, the game lags down INCREDIBLY, and I cannot move an inch in the Test Play. If I hold down F10 the game runs at normal speed, but because it's being held down, I cannot move. Anyone know how to fix this problem? It's REALLY bugging me

Hm...I'd say you should test play the game on another computer to make sure if it's your computer's fault or the game's. If it turns out it just doesn't work on your computer, then...I dunno. If it doesn't work on any other computer, then there's something with the game.

F10 stops the current event, so yeah, sounds like an event problem.

Make a new game and make a small island for your character to walk around on and see what happens.

If it's fine, make a new, blank map in your normal game and fill it with grass and stick the Party Starting Position on that map, and test. If it's good, then obviously there's an event on your normal starting map that is stuck in a loop or something. If it's slow again, you have a common event that's being called over and over.

I have tried moving the starting location to the main map (it was in a town) but it still doesn't work. And I know it can't be a screwed up event, cause I didn't change anything

Did you try making an entirely new game? (Just close your current project and start a new blank one, then build a tiny map with grass and your party starting location.) See what happens on the new game - obviously, if it still does the same thing, it's not an event problem.

I had the same prolem with it slowing down when I first got it. Are you running it in windowed mode? If so, then that is your problem. Click the little icon next to the test play icon, should be a square with an "X" in it. This will allow it to play full screen, and then it runs fine....why I have no idea...one of the many mysteries of the program...

try this:
1. Close msn
2. open test window in windowed mode
3. press F5
does that work?
