Battle movement

is there a way for my characters to run toward the enemies and then slash? sort of like final fantasy 7 is what I'm going for...any help would be appreciated!

Yeah, go to the items tab in the database, choose a weapon, then press the animation "set" button, and finally change the "move before attack" option to "move to target."
