Does anyone make game music anymore? All I hear is Square stuff.
So I made a song. Not my best, but not bad in my opinion.
Listen to it all cuz it has a SOLO!!!

Kinda repetitive, and the end doesn't flow into the beginning like most gaming music, but really do I like it. Sounds familiar, though. Dunno why. You should try your hand at a slower song.
Wicked solo, btw. ;)

It isn't really VG music. It's more metal than game music.
Not my best solo.
It's repetitive because it should have lyrics and most music goes by a formula.
This songs formula is thus:
Tempo 1 measure
Intro 4 measures
Chorus(no lyrics) 4 measures
Bridge one 2 measures
Verse 8 measures
Bridge two 1 measure
Verse 1 measure
Bridge two 1 measure
Chorus 4 measures
Bridge two 1 measure
Verse 8 measures
Bridge two 1 measure
Verse 1 measure
Bridge two 1 measure
Chorus 4 measures
Solo part 20 measures (I think)
Chorus 4 measures (not heavy)
Chorus 4 measures (heavy on crash)

Then it really needs lyrics. Just the music alone is kinda boring to listen to after a while. Mebbe that's just me, though.

Well, I might just be used to playing guitar and writing just music. I never write lyrics and if I do it's not just me writing them.

I like it. The first thing gamewise that comes into my head is either a boss battle or a level deep underground...more likely to be the boss battle though.
What did you create it in? Whih program?
Me being me I opened it up in Sibelius 4 just to have a look at it... :p
A little question, I've never understood writing parts for drums. How do I write the parts for them? In my second GCSE Composition I'm making a little jazzy number and need drum parts you see.
As soon as I get my first composition from the school server I'll post it up.

I use Anvil Studio.
Drums aren't hard. My beats have usually a two snare hit per measure. I keep the view in 1/16 when I place notes.
I could make a drum beat for you if you want.

I've been trying to write some music but the attached is as far as I got. it's meant for cave levels

Is that all there is to the song? I hope not. :weird:

well, since I can't read music very well anymore, and I forgot to put in a loop, and I can't think of what else to stick in there, and I just started it a few days ago; it's all I've got so far. sorry if I disappointed you. but I'm working on it. any ideas will be appreciated.
Oh, and wed-G, about your music? I like it a lot! and if you want to, I'm making a game as well, but I'm having trouble in the music department. is it ok if i use some of your music, at least until my friend and I can learn how to read music and create our own?

I can make music for you.
Just give me a description and I'll make some for you.

Righto, here's my music composition.
I need to go into Sibelius and play around with the mixer a bit to get the instrument volume in balance. But, yeah...
If it were to be used in a game I'd probably use it during the credits.
