You can place your bids faster if you have a faster Internet connection. Using a client side bid swipe program you can set your bids to go in 1 second before the auction ends. I have lost many an auction because of it. I don't really know what else the ad could be implying other than:

didn't place your bid in time and lost the auction? It's because your Internet connection sucks donkey balls. Get a real connection; get earthlink.

It makes plenty of sense, Ebay and earthlink got together and said hey lets advertise together and save money. Earthlink says their internet is better for fast bidding on ebay(which will appeal to a lot of people who have 56K) and Ebay gets their name in there while they're at it.

What doesn't make sense?
