I read somewhere a long time ago (so I may be wrong), that the enemy should be anywhre from your 10 oclock to 1 oclock position. I'm probably wrong ^_^. Back then I used to think that a hammerdin was a paladin using a Hammer type weapon..

Yeah, shift helps. Also go near the enemy then retreat and spam hammers.

If you're going PvP, a good trick is to Charge away from your opponent while dropping a Hammer or two every Charge...

Most noobs will walk right thru it/teleport into it.

i got a little trick i use, notice the hammer seems to come out from behind you and swing around,
well depending on where an enemy is if they are in melee range can make a big difference between that hammer hitting and not hitting, just keep that in mind,
if they are right up in your face,
it might help to click behind you when you let a hammer go because your character faces wherever the mouse is so the hammer will comeout theback of you which is right in that enemy's face!

lol i was pk'ing with my hammerdin, sum dude claimed he was undefeatable, and he just walked out of town, i started running, and releasing hammers every 1-2 seconds, and he got OWNED! he was like, srry, i let u win, this time ill try harder, i laughed lol, and beat him like 3 more times, and called me "lucky"

This is the same tactic blckshdwdragon used to tear up my V/T.

First, he stacked Lightning Resist to make my FoH near-useless. He then proceeded to Vigor+Charge away from me (I don't have Vigor), so he outruns me, and drops a few Hammers here and there for me to try to catch when I'm Charging after him.

Basically, he neutralized my Ranged attack, and can outrun me to where I can't get in Melee range to Smite. I still have yet to think of a way to counter that strategy, but I'll do it... someday. ;)

well you could try to predict where he is going to run and tele ahead of him and shift smite. becuas if you have a R3 weapon your range isnt too bad and while shift charging he always goes in a straight line. it is alot harded to actually predict where he will be going charge because we all know that blck is a good pker so he will make up some complicated paterns also i believe that the shift charging is kinda like wwing as far as how far you will charge so he could short charge or long charge. is he long charges then he will have to go in a straight line for a longer distance.

That was my idea, I just never fully expanded upon it.

My other idea, was to possibly try a new hybrid Pally I was trying about earlier today... ;)

what kind of hybrid crusader/vindicator? that is a build i wanna try out but i still have to work out the skill placement some time.

I was debating Smite / Hammerdin.

Was trying to work it out in my head last night. I'll spend some of today looking at it. ;)

the only potential problem that i see with a smiter/hammers is that you really lack a long range attack because hammers are out ranged by most spells. but most builds are viable if you know what you are doing. also i think that with as many synergies/passives skills that there are to both hammers and smite that you would have pretty weak of both unless you picked one to max completely.

It wouldn't give me any advantage over blck, but it could quite possibly destroy Pubbies even better than a V/T.

It'd take some getting used to, however. But yes, those were shortfalls I had anticipated.

Smite/Hammer = Vanquisher :D
