Sorc gear for PvM

I am trying to outfit my lvl 90 Sorc from 09 days. I want her to have good gear but I do not have nor can I afford "Godly" stuff. Any good suggestions on what to use or how to combine items. This is what I have now:

Armor: Skin of Viper
Helm: Shako and Tal
Ammy: Tal's
Rings: SOJ x 2
Gloves: Magefist
Boots: War T's
Belt: Tal or Snowclash
Weapon: Wizardspike, Oculus, and Tal Lidless
Shield: Lidless

I do not have facets. She is primarily a cold/lightning sorc. Last, what would a good merc be for her?

Your gear sounds just fine for a "Middle Class" player. Is she an orb/nova sorc? If so, you may want to consider rebuilding her to take advantage of new synergy bonuses. That build kind of get nerfed.

Regarding a merc, you'll likely want something hitting Physical damage. I'd recommend either a Rogue or Barbarian.

Yeah, she was the old orb/nova sorc from 09. Probably better to build a new one from the ground up. Thx for the help.

I've built a Fireball/Meteor Sorceress, and they fare OK, just a lot of fire immunes. My buddy is going to try a Blizzard build. Orb is still good in some way, it just can't possibly do the damage that Blizzard would with full synergy.

Blizzard, is by FAR the best skill IMO.

My buddies ladder sorc owns pindle in 2 blizzards and 3 glacier spikes, runs pin about 5 seconds faster then my lit sorc.

And blizz sorcs own meph, too, the meph/pin combo is great.

Fire sorcs own Pindle like nothing. Mine puts him and friends down in about 1 meteor and 2-3 fireballs.

Meph is a different story. I have a wand with Lower Resist charges that I use to help against him. :)
