Open stockets

For rare items, Can they open more than 1 now in anyway? or just the same old 1 socket only?

I got a rare giant axe from Meph last night that had 4 open sockets after I ID'd it.

I mean, if I do stockets quest or use the stocket formula.

Im pretty sure it's still just 1, same with uniques.

I've used the socket quest and socketed 2 things so far, and both have gotten 2 sockets.
