There is no difference, except for maybe beliefs and skin color, along with nationality. But how does that change their intelligence? Okay, I'm gonna do my damnedest to bring this back on topic. This happens to be something I feel very strongly about.

Affirmative Action is bullshit, plain and simple. I'm not a racist, and I'm not a bigot. It's because I'm not a bigot that I feel AA is unnecessary and actually detrimental. AA drives a rather large wedge between races via workplace "ethics". People are being taught that as long as you're not white, it doesn't really matter if you're the best at what you do. It's the same way with welfare. People are being taught that it's not necessary to excel in life by their own action. People are being taught that free rides are offered by our government, and that practically anyone of a non-white race is eligible for it.

These facets of our society need to be removed. All they do is make that line dividing our races even bolder and harder to breach. If all men are created equal, why are some given preferential treatment by our government? It's hypocrisy, and it needs to end.

Oh, and I'm moving this to the Conspiracy thread. A few heated insults are not grounds for it's relocation to this forum. This is a great topic, and I would hate to see it's progress mired by the name-calling that the Flame Forum encourages.

I actually agree, which is why I didn't know why silver called the OP a fucking pig.

The only thing that really pisses me off is college acceptance. In some of the more prestigous colleges, where the ranking system, which is based on courses taken, extracurricular activites, test scores, etc. is sometimes very close to either getting accepted or not, or to determine how much of a scholarship you get, white people are actually at a handicap.

This is completely hypothetical, and I'm making up the numbers, but I know the percentage basis is somewhat correct. For example, if a white student gets a 1400 on their SAT's, they may get something like 100 points on the ranking system. Now, if a black student, applying to the same school gets a 1000 on the SAT's and has all the same credetials as the white student, the black student will get accepted to the school because of a technicality. That being, they got extra points for being black, and that is bullshit.

All-in-all, AA is horseshit, and shouldn't even exist anymore. At one point I must admit that it helped, but now it is getting out of control.

And yes the preamble is fucking hypocritical. Pretty much never until 1964-65 have we come close to being 'equal' and we still aren't.

GOD! Why cant the people who make the big laws think this way. AA is the worst idea I can think of. No one and I mean no one should be let into a school unless they meet the standards of that school. It makes me sick to think that someone who wants to be a doctor and just happens to be white can be turned down just so that someone with a lower intellect can be one just cus their not white. I just cant see how its not their falt that they didnt get better grades in school. If we start getting all white schools then so be it. All that means is that there are more white people applying them selves than black or hispanic. How would you like to know that your doctor failed human anatomy but is still a doctor becuse of AA. this shit is scary. were letting the dumb people take over the jobs that require the smarter minds. it should be based on how much you know not how dark your skin is.

Cultural Revolution another name for AA ?:

AA is terrifying .. pure and simple. At the extreme end, it didn't work in China, where teachers and doctors and any element of the intelligensia were mocked, stripped of their belongings and sent out to work in the paddyfields with their "comrade brothers" !

It certainly didn't improve China's economy, the peasants who so joyfully "denounced" anyone who had worked hard to get what they owned .. (usually because they were jealous of another persons efforts) .. certainly didn't benefit from the common collective (The idea that everyone should have an "Equal" share by taking from those who had more than they did !)

The NEW idea that the workhorse peasant was more valuable because he was able to do manual labour and very little else was proven to be wrong. Academics, poets, artists, scientists, doctors, educators, great thinkers .. were all scorned and debased terribly .. their wealth and assets stripped from them.

what happened ?

The whole country degraded further, and all because the "have nots" demanded equality with the "haves". Iin other words there was not enough to go around and taking away by force what people had earned the right to acquire by dint of hard work and intelligence dragged the entire country even further down into the dirt.

The answer, is most certainly NOT to artificially bump up grades or to dumb down levels, so more people can have a chance to acquire a virtually meaningless grade.

There HAS to be a system where excellence gains trhe merit it deserves, it should NOT be dependant on colour, creed or by knowing the right social set !

If the people with the higher qualifications are consistently passed by because they have the wrong skin colour be it BLACK, WHITE, RED OR YELLOW .. or whatever is the politically correct colour then God or Gods helps us all !

Thank you for that .. like all forums I find small type so hard to read .. what would really help is a feature that enables the small font in the quick reply and full featured reply to be displayed larger than it is .. php boards have a default feature that can usually be altered by the mods that does allow the font size to be increased. I view at 1024 resolution rather than 800 so the text appears very small to me

I have no problems reading the messages once posted as I can then choose the view feature in my browser .. and select a larger font size
