If you want to anti-sorc, cold resist won't do you much due to their Cold Mastery.
Of course, you'd need at least positive resists...then you can use some absorb gear such as Raven Frost ring.
*cough* If you just want to build a barb for high resist, and not taking him to dueling or anything...use natural resist.
Lv 20 gives about ~67% all resist.
UM your Shield/Armor/Helm for extra resist.
Tell me what the barb is for...PvM, PvP, or...Gallery ^_^
i'll just say...
use
lightsabre
v1.08 black oak luna
thundergods vigor
hot spur boots
v1.08 rising sun amulet
ravenfrost
ravenfrost
lavagout gloves/LoH

If you want an Anti Sorc barb, basically, you would want 95% resist to all, along with abosrbs to each type of elements.
As we all know, normally our characters can only have 75% resist. But, with gears that +Max resist, a character can have up to 95% resist to all.
You would want 95% resist to Fire, Cold, and Lightning. The sorc won't do any poison damage unless she is with a merc (probably Rogue) with Poison Bow.
Helm:
Blackhorn's Face -> +20 Lightning Absorb, 15% LR
Armor:
Guardian Angel -> 15% Max resist to FR, CR, LR, PR
Gloves:
Hellmouth -> +15 Fire Absorb
Venomgrip -> 5% Max Poison resist, 30% PR, 5% LL
Boots:
Infernostride -> 10% Max Fire resist, 30% FR, 20% frw
Waterwalk -> 5% Max Fire resist, 45-65 life, 20% frw
Belt:
Snowclash -> +15 Cold Absorb, 15% CR
Thundergod's Vigor -> +20 Lightning Absorb, 10% Max Lightning Resist, 20 Str, 20 Vita
Weapons:
Lightsaber -> 25% Lightning Absorb (Or dual Lightsabers)
Blackoak Luna -> + 0.625 Cold Absorb per Clvl , +1.25 Life per Clvl
Rings:
Raven Frost -> 20% Cold Absorb, 15-20 Dex (Dual Raven)
Dwarf Star -> 15% Fire Absorb, Mdmg reduced by 12-15, 40 life (Or Dual Dwarf if opponent doesn't use Orb/Blizzard)
Amulet:
The Rising Sun -> +0.75 Fire Absorb per Clvl
Mara's Kaleidoscope -> +2 Skill, +5 all stats, 20-30 All resists.
Socket the Armor, helm and Shield with UM rune.
15% all resist Armor and helm, 22% in Shield gives
52% all resists.

TS/Orb sorc.
The TS/Orb sorc are the type of sorc you'll see usually.
Since they won't have Fire resist, you don't need to worry about the resistance for Fire.
Blackhorn+Dual Lightsaber will make TS useless.
Then Dual Raven Frost, Snowclash belt will lower the damage dealt to you by Frozen Orb. Still try to dodge the Orb however, because it still hurt.
Hydra/Firewall/meter Sorc:
Depends on what his secondary skill is...if it's Orb, then you will have a problem.
Try max your Fire resist (95%) and use Rising Run, Hellmouth.
Use Dual Raven, BlackOak, Snowclash.
Get 5% All resist/5% Frw sc.
snowclash is pretty pointless. get tgods for added str/vitality/damage and added lr. no good pvp sorc doesn't use ts sadly : /

True, Snowclash would only reduce the FO dmg by a little. The Vita in TGod is better, and if you actually go Lightsaberx2, Blackhorn + Tgod with 95% LR, TS will probably heal you.
Jiddar,
Yes cons are very cheap on EUROPE these days :D
1) -x magic damage / - damage
2) Add up total Resistances
3) Cold mastery!
4) Difficulty penalty -40 / - 100 (NM/Hell)
5) %absorb
6) +absorb
7) Bone/Cyclone Armor / absorb
8) 1/4 PvP
9) Energy Shield
thats the order elemental damage is taken into account.
hey is there any cons in hc?

only counting res, no things with absorb
2* silence weapon / clean ith and put all 15 all res/ second mods in it = 150 - 330
2* cons ring = 200
mara's amu = 30
gloves with cold / lt res = 40
bugged wt = 30?
tals armor (um/15 all res jwl) = 55
veil of steel (um/15 all res jwl) = 65
max res skill = 68
total = 598 all res and 628 lt/cold res
and something like 778 if u take the ith weapons with 15 all res jewels in it :P
gloves don't get 40 dual resist
and for optimum damage a 15 all resist/15 maximum damage *6
which is about 330 1handed damage if ethereal zod'd
then again just 2x silence colossus blades would be great.

Say, if a Barb has 800% Cold resist in Hell, no Mdr, no absorb, against a Sorc with lv 20FO/CM.
Lv 20 FO = 264.5 Avg cold dmg.
Lv 20 CM = 85% Pierce
800% x (1-.85) = (Ok, I'm in the library and I forgot to bring my calculator. The answer might be off.) 800 x 0.15 = 120%?
120 - 100(hell penalty) = 20%
264.5 x (100-20)% = 264.5 x 0.80 = 264.5 - 52.9 = ~211.6
211.6/4 = ~52.9? Cold dmg per shard.
most sorcs have 90% peirce or higher
and have about lvl 34 orb
in hell you need about 1800% resist to affectively reduce fo without absorb.

I know, I picked 20 since the barb doesn't have any absorb.
My PvP sorc has ~lv 34 FO/CM and 92%? pierces.
With no absorb a barb can be easily killed.
