Random 35 Tracks Tape.

Michael Sandison and Marcus Eoin had not officially
used the  name Boards Of  Canada until 1994.  Until
that year  that twoism was released  (in the Summer
of  1995)  there have  been  a  number  of pre-"Boc
Maxima"  Boards  Of  Canada  apocrypha  circulating
around under the  title A Few Old  Tunes that claim
to  be  from  the  band's  own  Music70 label.  The
versions circulating on the  net were obviously not
source copies,  as the quality was not good enough,
and, depending on the track, contained considerable
noise  commonly  called  tape-hiss.  If  it  is any
indication of authenticity,  it seems as though the
people at Music70.com would  have known better than
to encode  160-190 CBR MP3's.  It  was obvious that
these copies were sourced from a cassette,  as this
seems to be the case with a newer  set of so-called
Boards of  Canada tunes (approximately  35 of them)
that have  appeared rather  recently.  These tracks
appear to have surfaced  on p2p networks encoded as
320 kbps  CBR MP3's in  September of  2004,  and do
seem authentic  as  they  contain  the prolific BoC
spirit.   If  you  listen  closely,  you  can  hear
samples  used  from  Music70's   A  Few  Old  Tunes
release.  Here  is the  list  of  tracks  that have
appeared on other  BoC releases:  tracks A-2,  A-5,
A-11, A-15, B-3, *B-10, B-13, B-17; (side B's track
#10 uses  a  sample  from  geogaddi's "the smallest
weird number").
