XP question

ok i have windows XP (Home) on a dell 2400, it got in a game so i turned my computer off for a couple of mintues... restarted it and it wouldnt let me log in.. loged onto another account then mine... and i could log in.. but ALL... of the files that were specificaly on my accnt were all lost... like school work and stuff... I asked chruser he told me to do a systeme restore... but it says my admin wont let me... anyone know what to do???
Need help fast cuz some school work was on here (Essays) so i need to get them back fast. I thought it might be in safe mode... anyone know how to take windows xp out of safe mode?

A similar problem had happened with me a while back.

Well one way that 'might' fix it would be to hit F8 When you start up your computer and go to "Last Known Good Configuration" But, If your files are gone they are most likely on the other user account, now make sure that you don't have anything in the password or anything, and What 'exactly' is it doing when you try to log on? Theres a way you could probably access your files ... Go to < C: < Documents and Settings < (Find the name you usually log on as) and they should all be there

fixed it a different way.. chruser told me to hit F8 also... but my brother fixed it for me... thx anyway
