If you're running windows right-click the bottom right corner of ur screen at the toolbar, and click adjust time/date and you take it from there, although that's not going to bring deleted files back. What exactly did you delete?
The way I usually run System Restore is through the Help and Support Center. Search for "System Restore" and pick "Run the System Restore Wizard" from the choices. Pick a restore point from there..
Of course, this doesn't help for personal files like a deleted essay or something. It's for Windows settings..

well, see friday my girlfriend died. and we never talked on the phone. we talked through messenger. and i had archiving turned on and i was viewing some old convos.. well one of the dates was pretty much pointless and i wnt to delete it, but instead deleted the file with all the conversations in it. i dont think i can get them back. but if anyone knows how to retrieve them. i would greatly appreciate it.
yea.. its wierd.. when i was i the archiving for yahoo messenger.. when it deleted it dissappeared but when i acces the archives through my computer.. they go to the recycle bin
Have you tried looking in your yahoo directory? Like for autosaved logs or anything?

If you delete normal non-system files you're not getting them back. I've heard of a way with Norton Systemworks Utilites (not the ATV/PF). Anyways, to roll back and are on XP just click on Start Menu>Program Files(All Programs)>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. Then Restore to an Earlier Time, then the rest is obvious.
