Top Five Movies of All Time
Reply
Posted 2003-02-04, 12:43 PM
My top five are these, in this order:

1) Braveheart
2) Usual Suspects
3) Gladiator
4) The Matrix
5) The Godfather (I)

Man, its hard though, being there are so many great movies...
Scarface, Goodfellas, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Casino, Seven, Boondock Saints, A Few Good Men, etc.

I know I'm probably going to edit my list every once in a while, because I'm positive I'm forgetting something big! I just have that feeling right now, it's a complete memory lapse....

Blazing Saddles, LoL, I love that movie!

Yeah, I knew I forgot some. Beautiful Mind, Shawshenk, both LoTRs, and American Beauty are kick ass too....

I don't think i can do top 5.....

1. Braveheart
2. Usual Suspects
3. Gladiator
4. Beautiful Mind
5. The Matrix
6. Shawshenk Redemption
7. LoTR: TT
8. LoTR: Fellowship
9. Godfather
10. American Beauty
11. Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels

Shit, I don't like that order either.... Its too hard. I'd definitely have to see them all again to put a definitive order to em.... But my numbers 1, 2, and 3 are without a doubt not going to change in my mind.

"Oh, well, send a nigger to check it out."

"A nigger? Why not a horse?"

"A HORSE!! You crazy, they cost money! I said send a nigger!"

Well, not exactly that, but something vaguely along those lines....

"The One" and "Pearl Harbor" should not see an all time anything list. The One? Are you fucking serious?

Yeah, The One and Pearl Harbor (Fucking stupid ass chick flick) definitely don't deserve to be on this list, IMHO.

Neither does Unbreakable and Pi for that matter. Pi was a really cool movie, but come on, we are talking about CLASSICS here. That movie hasn't even been heard of by a majority of the people in the world... If there was a second rate all time list, that would definitely be up there, if not number 1!

BTW, would you consider Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels a second rate movie, or B caliber flick? I don't know the technical terminology for those types of movies, but I think you get my drift.

Good choice with Snatch BTW, that was cool too!

Lock Stock was just never big in America, I think they only released in on like 5 screens here in the US, so if anything I would say second rate. In the UK I'm sure it was released on plenty of screens. I guess Ritchie realized he had a market in the US which explains Snatch. I would list some classics, but its hard to really compare older films to new ones. The Seventh Seal, Ran, Metropolis, Citizen Kane all would rank somewhere in there, but its hard to make a list that includes both classic and modern films.
