Which codec are you looking for, and which OS are you running?
If you're also looking for a Spyware Scanner, then find and download Spybot S&D, Adaware, and AVG Anti-Spyware. All three do things slightly differently, and, as a result, pick up on different things.

Upgrade to vista and you get Windows Defender.
As for codecs, quit watching porn.
Hijack This! is a good program when your browser turns to shit.
Upgrade to the lastest Internet Explorer, and if doesn't work, Use Mozilla Firefox.

I'm not upgrading, this is her laptop. So thats not going to work, and the codecs are for Baby Einsteins genious not porn.
