E3. For those of you who don't know what it is (which you should be shot for), E3 stand for the "Electronic Entertainment Expo". Simply stated, it is the biggest showing of video game hardware and software in the country, and it's going to be underway in little over a month.
All of the big groups are there, each one showing off their biggest guns, priming the fans mainly for the holiday season. Sony will most certainly be showing off games like GTA: San Andreas, Final Fantasy 12 and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Microsoft will certainly unveil titles such as Halo 2, Half Life 2 and Fable. Nintendo will undoubtedly be premeiring items like Metroid Prime 2, Resident Evil 4 and their new DS portable.
So, what are you stoked to see? Which titles in particular are you itching to catch a glimpse of?
Personally, I'm extremely excited for this year's potential offerings, primarily because of Nintendo's corner. This year at E3, I anticipate (and with very good reason) to see Metroid Prime 2 in playable form, Resident Evil 4 in playable form, Wind Waker 2, Mario 128, Star Fox 2, Pikmin 2, and a wealth of kickass Gameboy Advance titles. I also hope to God Almighty that we finally see some form of progressed version of Too Human, possibly some footage of Mario Tennis, and hopefully some news on whatever the fuck "Game Zero" is. On top of that, there is the DS to look forward to. Many people are skeptical of the device, but I personally have high hopes for it. So far, in terms of hardware, Nintendo has only genuinely let me down with one item: The Virtual Boy. Considering their track record beyond that one device, I think it's safe to assume that the DS will be absolutely badass, and I can't wait to see exactly what the hell it is.
Aside from the Nintendo corner, I'm very interested to see how MGS3 turns out, I can't wait to see new footage of Final Fantasy 12 and hopefully there's more media of Silent Hill 4 to be found. I'm marginally interested in the PSP, but considering that the release date for the hardware has been pushed back to 2005, I doubt we'll be seeing very much of it at E3.
The Microsoft corner doesn't really hold much interest for me. I was never a fan of Halo (it's pretty, but I just never really enjoyed it beyond the multiplayer), I don't really care about Fable, I never got into Half Life and Doom 3 doesn't have me shivering. I'm just not terribly impressed with the kinds of games Microsoft creates.
The same goes for the PC end of the spectrum. I'm not a PC guy, and as such, I don't even know what's coming out this year, much less what the E3 show-stoppers are supposed to be.
So, what are you pumped for? Got any interesting predictions of random software we might see? Got any less-than-plausible hopes for this year's show?
