Post PlayStation 3 in 2003?

Bloomberg.com Monday mentioned a Commercial Times article that says Sony will introduce the PlayStation 3 this year to widen its lead over rivals Microsoft and Nintendo. The Commercial Times cites unidentified people at Taiwanese parts suppliers as saying that the video console will go on sale two years ahead of schedule. Hon Hai Precision Industry of Taiwan - which assembles the PS2 for Sony - and other parts suppliers will reportedly start trial production next month. The Commercial Times reports that Sony may start selling the PS3 in Japan as early as mid-year and overseas by the end of the year.

The PS3 will use an unidentified processor different from the PS2's chip. Sony - in collaboration with IBM and Toshiba - is developing a new processor capable of handling complicated graphics and sound over the Internet. The chip is still in development - putting a potential damper on news of an early release for the PS3.

Probably miles long at stores and book lengths long on reservation pages. Oh, and I'd say like $400 US currency is a good starting price that everyone will pay...

I'm sure that is wrong... The PS3 is aimed for 2005, not 2003... the techonology is supposed to reinvent the entertainment experience, so obviously it's not ready... and the graphics will have an upgrade, good enough, and the processor is supposed to be the most powerful on the market of any computer system. Sounds great, but I expect it in two years.

i dont think it will compare to the best PC now, OR in 2 years according to you, every year that goes by, comps get 2x more powerful then what they were the previous year, and every year after that, they gradually gain even more of an advancement per year...

nothing will ever beat the proccessing power of a comp, never will, never has...

One of the reasons I like GameCube, there is no 20 minute loading time like on X Box and PS2.

I know that was an obvious exaggeration, but I've never waited more than 7 or so seconds with Loading screens on XBox that is...
