What does the Jewel do?

What does that little Jewel do? I've heard crazy ideas and theorys, but none have been acurate. Post here, your theory

If you click it over and over and over forever(not really) instead of saying "gem activated" it will say "perfect gem activated". It turns all your low grade (chipped flawed regular flawless) gems into perfects. Not a good idea to try this if you are harvesting chippies.

Uh it doesn't do that...
THe real reason for that jewel is that it originally was used for the squelching and unsquelching procedure in the beta, but was changed because it caused to much lag on the server.

Btw I learned this from a friend who has a relative that works at vivendi and works with blizz employee's.

There are no comfirmed reports of it doing anything, allthough there a programs that ar posted at pixelmethods.com that actually click the "Jewel" x # of times, perfictially.

one of the old d2 no cd hacks by nuttzi allowed you to get "perfect gem activated" everytime u clciked
