Does the shield that im going to use for exile have to be only for a pally before i even make the runeword? I know it is only for pally once it's made but does it have to be only for pally shield before its made?

DonÂ’t waste the runes unless the shield is ethereal, elite, and has at least 30+% to all resist.
Some people go for 45%+ Enhanced Damage also.
Since it is a property of the shield itself, it may increase the BASE smite damage, giving it a much better damage output. I'll see if I can check on that later.
Those are hard to come by, let alone regular vortex sheilds. Good luck finding/trading for one, Pit is best place to find it if you are going that way.
