Still, it is a help. It is more than 0 gold. Therefor it is better for item buying considering the ultimate goal is to save up and buy items with the gold.

no, the ultimate goal is to purchase items. if i recieve 50 gold i will still, in effect have 50 gold, because .9[repeating] gold is useless in purchasing.
