Post Riddles!

1.) What is greater than God, worse than the devil, the poor have it, and the rich don't want it?

2.) If, having only one match, on a freezing winter day, you entered a room which contained a lamp, a kerosene heater, and a wood burning stove, which should you light first.

3.) Johnny's mother had three children. The first child was named April. The second child was named May. What was the third child's name?

4.) Why are 1898 silver dollars worth more than 1897 silver dollars?

5.) Before Mt. Everest was discovered, what was the tallest mountain in the world?

6.) What is the largest possible number you can write using only 2 digits - just 2 digits, nothing else?

Yeah, I know, they aren't the hardest ones in the world, but they are jsut a start. If you want more, I can post even harder ones. But I wanted to start with something most of you should be able to get.

3), 4), and 5) are correct!

For 1), I actually like your answer better than the real one, but I won't post the right answer just yet, let more people try.

2) Nope

6) Thats a good answer too, but I think they meant only use 2 numbers, like 56 or 88, not something like you wrote, because 20000000000000... or 30000000000... etc are all theoretically larger than 1000000000.... Good guess though!

EDIT: 6) 99 is not the right answer, there is a certain trick that the answer uses. Actually I don't know if "trick" is the right word, but I think you get what I mean.

1. Correct
2. Correct
3. Correct
4. Wrong, but correct answer was already guessed by BlueCube
5. Correct
6. Wrong, like I so ineliquently tried to describe before, you can only have two numbers written down, not two digits written a million times. Because even your answer, 900000000000000000.... isn't theoretically larger than 990000000000000000.... for example.

I knew one and a few others. Hmmm. Post some more. I got one though.

What weighs nothing and if you put it in a barrell, the barrell will weigh less?

What gets wet when it dries?

A hole. I think the answer to your 2nd one is water. Or a cactus.

I'm sure the highest number answer is 9^9 as stated before or possibly 9E9. But as DKWicked also noted, you can use 99!. Following that pattern you can also use ((99!)!)! etc. So, using two numbers and any combination of other symbols, there is no largest number.

Unless you're talking about physically largest and not numberically largest, then it would be 88.

::edit::

OR!!!!

FF, if you're using Hexidecimal.

Or or ZZ if you're usin base26.

Or.. ZZZZ (base 50somethin?)

Anyhow, as you can see, there's not really any right answer to that question.
