Exclamation cd key question (no im not asking for 1)
Reply

I'm just wondering where the CD-Key is stored in blizzard games now. I remeber Starcraft stored it in the reg, but for Diablo II, LOD, WC3, and TFT i've been unable to find the cdkey even after going thru the MPQs, so just wondering if anyone know where it is. Thanks in advance.

www.d2dl.com

http://www.d2dl.com/files/stand_alone/showcdkey.zip

A tool which allows you to view your current CD-Keys.

It works for Diablo2 and LoD.

According to my database, you can also locate the CD Key changer in www.d2dl.com

Hellmonkey's website.

It is not stored in the Registry. It is in a MPQ. That is why a 3rd party program is created for the purpose of viewing and changing the CDKey.

I will advise you to check d2sfx.mpq for Classic Key, and d2char.mpq for Expansion key.

i have a valid cdkey for both d2, lod, and wc3 tft that works on bnet but cannot be installed using the english installers. therefore i need a way to change my cdkey for those games after installing the game using a generated cdkey so i can play on bnet

I could download the cdkey viewer and run it on someone else's computer? No, I think not. I still think I'm right.

If it's a trojan, he can download and run any file on someone elses computer that he wants.

It's not a trojan... If he gave a trojan to somebody, he could run a file on that person's computer, but since all it does is view keys... Besides, a much stealthier way of doing it would be to simply check the file manually without downloading any program... thus the question.
