Industrial Design application stuff
Reply

Here are some new artworks, all of which are part of my application to an ID school. Some descriptive text, especially for the brushes, is absent as I wrote it on top of printed versions of the images:

"Monologue"

"Hold me close like I existed"

(Yes, this one is a self-portrait.)

I love the one with the scarecrow. I don't suppose I could ask what the text means? I think I can pick out "with heart", but that's about it.

The self-portrait is great too.

In fact, they're all very good.

If you don't mind me asking: how long has it taken to draw them all? And what's an ID school?

Thank you Lenny!

I wrote the the translation above the image; "Hold me close like I existed", or "Hold me tighly as if I existed".

I consider most but not all of the drawings finished artworks (rather than "sketches"). Almost all of them have been planned with a variety of sketches from different angles, trying out different compositions and so on. The actual drawing time for, say, the satellite disc image, was around 2-2.5 hours, while it took almost two days of consecutive time of planning, drawing, redrawing and typography work for "Monologue".

ID is short for Industrial Design. It generally aims toward product and transportation design, conceptualization and planning for industrially manufactured items. Think about an iPod, a coke bottle or a VW Beetle, and you should get some ideas about the field.

Industrial Design, I assume.

Also... Chruser, you are one of those people. I see them sometimes. They make me feel yucky.

Of course, "Industrial Design". I can't believe how slow I am at 3am.

I've just Wikied it to get an even further understanding, and I have to say, it sounds very interesting. It aso explains the drawing and 3d model of the brush.

Good luck with your application!

I suppose an explanation is in place.

First image: "You walk across a market and spontaneously purchase 15 ecologic eggs. You realize you have nothing to carry them home in, and finding a bag, purse or such is not allowed. Create three solutions for carrying the eggs home, and make a more thorough sketch of one of the solutions."

Second image: "Design a rollator for a target audience 18-25 years old. Give thoughts to the colors."

Third image: "Create a Heinz shower creme bottle. Use the popular Heinz forms."

It's like its all in a foreign language... Anyways really nice work, its very clear to me that you are very artistically talented. I wish luck to get accepted, though I'd be surprised if you wouldn't be, based on your work.

Thank you! I just found out that I have been admitted into the Umeå Institute of Design. It's ranked as one of the world's best design universities. It had 180 applicants for 12 student seats, so happiness is among my current feelings.

http://www.dh.umu.se/default.asp?P=1735

I think the average age of the BA1 students is 24+, and I'm 21. Supposedly most students have applied 2-4 times. I got admitted on the first try, so HELL FUCKING YEAH, SUCK IT DOWN!
