Not a huge fan of Dire Straits, but there a couple of songs I wouldn't mind downloading and adding to my rapidly growing 80s playlist.

I'll check out Protest the Hero at some point, too. I must admit that I've not got through most of the thread yet. I will do eventually! Pinky promise.

You should check out Ella Minnow, The Tastydactles, and De Novo Dahl. I also like Uni and her Ukulele.

Got it just over a week ago. It's growing on me (and I love the Symphony), but I prefer Black Holes and Revelations.

Pavement, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Fiery Furnaces, Joy Division, Sebadoh, The Lemonheads, The Pixies, Belle and Sebastian, The Stone Roses, Fugazi, Bauhaus, Dinosaur Jr., The Jesus Lizard, Trashcan Sinatras, Blur, Jens Lekman, Eels, The Posies, PJ Harvey, They Might Be Giants, XTC, Matthew Sweet, Elliott Smith, The Shins

Well, I did try to keep it short. It's mainly indie rock and I'm sure you're already familiar with at least some of them, so that should lessen the list a bit.
