I'll comment on some of it

Quote:
The proposal is part of a final version of a report, ``The National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace,'' set for release early next year, according to several people who have been briefed on the report. It is a component of the effort to increase national security after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks
The above paragraph consists of large amounts of bullshit. So large in fact, that one would think out president was a clogged toilet and someone just shat out a weeks worth of drive thru Wendy's into the bird bath shaped mouth of his. It's not to increase security.

Quote:
The president's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board is preparing the report, and it is intended to create public and private cooperation to regulate and defend the national computer networks, not only from everyday hazards such as viruses but also from terrorist attack.
It's not to increase security. Bush has concerns with large numbers of Americans knowing as much as they do about our corrupt government, and knowing first hand, how eager he is to MAKE a war with Iraq if he cannot find a reason. Furthermore, those who run their own websites are more than adequate at dealing with viruses on their own, and do so, often fairly quickly. This is hardly a crisis for the United States. A good crisis example would be, say....our president claiming to be interested in stopping Ira from making war and having nukes...but ignoring North Korea, who flat out TELL bush "Hey shithead, we have nukes, why not bother us?"

Why? No oil in N Korea.

Make no mistake about it. president Bush might want to make the internet safer in regards to havign children being able to access porn. That's one thing, HOWEVER, there will be a time, when the net becomes FAR more moderated, and many more sites will be blocked. If you live in the United States, you haven't seen much of this, but other countires are extremely limited in what they can and cannot read. We still enjoy that luxuary, but for how much longer I must wonder.

(posted before I was done)

Quote:
An official with a major data services company who has been briefed on several aspects of the government's plans said it was hard to see how such capabilities could be provided to government without the potential for real-time monitoring, even of individuals.
Say goodbye to some of the first amendment.

This is inevitable. The internet hit the world by storm, and is one of the top 10 most potent inventions in this planet's history. Up until recently, not a lot of people knew a lot about stuff such as the dirt on pst presidents and posessed any means on keeping track of what present presidents do. This all changed with the 'net. Sooner or later the 'net will undergo some changes, and a lot of stuff wil lbe locked down. Warez will probably be harder to come by.

The next 20 years will be interesting For this, and the fact that we're due for another war, at least in the United States. We do average a war every 20 years or so I believe....
