Comp wont power up

So, I took apart my old comp to clean it all and when I put it back together...nothing, no power or at least when I press the power switch.

Its an old Acer PII 266mhz. The mobo power cords are plugged in properly, so it should at least boot to the bios. Even with HDD and Cd drives nothing.

There are four cables to plug in. 3 are for the mobo and only go on one way and so nothing can be done wrong there. But for the power switch and LED's there are three cables and i've tried them all different ways and nothing will happen.

The farthest I get is when I just plug the comp back in (after a few minutes unplugged) the power LED comes on for a few seconds and goes back off.

Its not the spot I have it plugged into since the moniter power works and so does my lamp.

Do you think it could be a electrical problem such as my power supply just suddenly going on me or the power switch cable?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Yea, sounds like the powersupply fuckin up.

What about a short in the power button wires and shit? Make sure they didn't get kinked/broke during the overhaul.

Sounds like a power supply issue... Guessing it's an AT case being it's a 266, and those tend to go out since they're pretty old.... Get a new power supply and it should work fine, but don't accidentally buy an atx style one ;-)
