plzz help me with sound

my sound on my computer is broken and i need help with it, when i try to install my sound thing i get a illegal operation from _ins5576 and it wont let me install it so does anyone know how to stop that??

Remove the drivers ( uninstall ) and then reinstall. Btw what OS are you running? And what soundcard?

To remove the drivers, if in Windows 9x, right click on My Computer go to Properties and go to (I think, it's been a while since I have been on 9x) Device Manager. From there open up the Sound tree, click on your driver and click remove. Reboot then try installing the drivers again, get the newest drivers from their website.
In XP, right click My Computer again, go to Hardware then Device Manager, and do the same things.

98se and im using soundblaster 16pci, i did what you guys said but like earlier i dled these drivers from the internet and like when i restart they automatically go to try to install those so then i deleted them from my computer and when i reboot it still detects to try to install those and so i dont know what to do, i hope you can understand
