BioShock News and Screenshots (MASSIVE download!)
Reply

A branch of Toys 'R Us in the United States started selling BioShock early, and this may have opened the floodgates for Take 2 to allow the bring the schedule forward, as there are now BioShock commercials airing on TV saying 'AVAILABLE NOW'.

I've known one of the developers for almost seven years, and he has given me some tidbits of information about BioShock. The game has seemed extremely promising from the very start of its development, and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Quite a few reviewers have given the game ridiculously good scores. The official XBOX 360 magazine gave BioShock a perfect score of 10/10, while PC Gamer has awarded the game a score of 96%.

Anyway, here are some screenshots:

I hope all this hasn't ruined the game for me because it looks pretty fun. I really dig the particle effects they have.

Being a Fallout fan, there's not much I like more than a decaying 1950's-style futuristic setting filled with bloodthirsty mutant beasties. Needless to say, I'm pretty excited about this game.

The PC version will be out sometime between Tuesday and Friday next week. I talked to my BioShock developer contact today. He wasn't too upset about the fact that the XBOX 360 version has been sold early by Toys 'R Us, nor that it's been released on torrent sites.

Him: It's not too bad I think... It's much better that the 360 torrent is out than the PC one.
Him: I don't think there are enough modded 360's out there for that to be too much of a problem long term.
Me: The PC version being cracked/torrented this early would be catastrophic though.
Me: So what prevents Toys 'R Us from selling that early as well?
Him: The actual executable isn't in the PC box.
Him: You have to download it from Steam or IGN on launch day.

That's a clever idea - having the executable not on the disc, but only availale by download.
