Has anyone played Shadow Hearts 2? (JAP)
Reply

Shadow Hearts 2 for PS2, which is only avaliable in JAP as of now.

It's definitely one of the best RPG games I've ever played... and that's after I've taken games like FF, Chrono, Star Ocean, Tales (yadda yadda) into account.

Developed by Aruze... keep your eyes on it when it hits the US.

EDIT:
...I lost my mind when I posted this. It should be in PS2 section, could anyone help me to move this, please?

I can read all the Kanji's, and know the basic hiragana and katakana, and from that I can guess what the story is mainly about.

Shadow Hearts 2 's storyline is... post World War I (year 1915), and the background... well, it was difficult for me because I've never played Shadow Hearts 1...

However, the story, characters, graphics, music are great. It has a similar battle system to that of Grandia, with a nifty combo system implanted.

The characters are mostly unique, for instance, the "hero" (anti-hero..) of the story has a special morph systems which he can turn into different ...Monster? (Fire/Ice/Wind/Dark/Earth/Air) and he has his special Souls meter which is needed for upgrading the individual element.

Blah blah blah...

Since the Kanji's are just Chinese characters, I know those pretty well. (Some kanji's don't actually mean the exact thing as the Chinese, but slowly and slowly I know what they all mean after playing different games)

Hiragana and Katakana I learned in school and college. Not that I can speak them perfectly...

Definitely pick this up. Since Azure isn't a well-recognized company, people may overlook the game..

What exactly does the HDD drive for FFXI do? I have seen it in GMR Magazine but haven't figured out the point to it. If Shadow Hearts 2 is as good as you say it is then I am getting it the first day of its release.

Well, it allows you to play it, It is something like 8+ gigs, nor sure of the exact number since it gets bigger with expansions and updates. When you first get it, it has normal non expansion FFXI, Tetra master and a playonline thing pre-installed that takes up about 12gigs. should I go on?

The original was very good, in my opinion. I'll definately grab this one when it reaches the North American shores (if it does).
